Happy New Year ... now to the views, mine.
I want to make sure that you people know that
this is MY WEBSITE. All those 275 other Kevin Nash Websites ARE NOT my Websites. They are
bogus and I have nothing to do with them.
What I'm gonna do here on this site is ....
every Monday night, or maybe Tuesday morning depending on how I feel Monday night, I'll
give you my feelings, my insights on what happened on Nitro, where things are, where
things are going, what things I think should be happening. Anyone who has ever heard me on
the Internet know that I always talk about some inside things. This Website will be the
same. I'll probably also report back on Friday, after Thunder, and maybe other days in
between too.
Down the line, I'm willing to take some
questions from you guys, the fans, and I'll answer them right here. Plus, you're
gonna get a lot of photos that you won't see anywhere else because one of my buddies, a
photographer, is gonna be with me on the road. You'll see a lot of behind-the-scene shots.
Not only wrestling-related, but in my everyday life. This is my Website and since you're
here, you must be interested in what the hell I do on a daily basis, so stay tuned.
It's kind of ironic that we're kicking this
column up just after I won the World Heavyweight Championship. Whether it was done
properly or not, "Big Sexy" is now also "Big Sexy, The Streak-Ender."
I'm not happy with the way things happened, but, in retrospect, I'm sure if I look back on
this in 10 years, one of the highlights of my career will be that I was able to stop
Goldberg's streak. It's funny, when I beat Backlund for the belt for the first time, I
beat him in the middle in eight seconds, it was pretty much cut-and-dry. I remember
sitting in my hotel room that night, looking at that belt and saying, 'Five years ago I
was a J-brone; now I'm the World Wrestling Federation Champion.' Then, there was no
comparison between the two organizations WWF was, at that time, The Show. And I was The
Champion at The Show.
Then, when Scott Hall and I made our move and
came here, we did what everyone wants to do: we came in and popped the territory, as the
old-timers used to say. Scott and I did just that. This became the place to be. For almost
two years, we dominated the WWF and became the No. 1 promotion in North America, if not
the world. Since then, they gained some momentum during the NBA playoffs while we were
off, and we haven't seemed to been able to bounce back. Some people say the WWF is doing
some tacky stuff; some people say they are doing some innovative stuff. I say some of it
is cutting-edge; some of it is non-sensible. But they're doing good television and this is
a TV show. It's no longer a wrestling show. Before I get too deep into my commentary on
the WWF in this opening column, suffice it to say that I'll give my opinions when
something is really good and when something is really bad. So, stay tuned ... it's going
to be a sweeeeet ride.
Starrcade, Dec. 27th, was Bill Goldberg's
birthday. For him, I know losing the belt on that day was kinda upsetting. For me, I once
again had the realization that it was the day my mother had passed away a few years back.
So I had to deal with those emotions. Monday on Nitro from The Georgia Dome, I have to do
the McGwire ... I have to erase all doubts. I don't want to be the Roger Maris Champion, a
champion with an asterisk next to my name because of the way I won it. I've got to stick
Bill on my own, without anyone's help.
Any mistakes I made at Starrcade, and there
were a few, won't be made again. He's stronger than I thought he was. As the match went
along, I thought I would be able to wear him down because he doesn't go very long in his
matches, but I found that to be the fact. I found that, if I can sustain to the 12- or
15-minute mark, the experience I have gained over the years is gonna give me the edge. I
know I've got to stay away from The Spear, and I will.
THIS IS MY FINAL THOUGHT OF THE DAY ... AND I
DON'T KNOW WHERE THE HELL THIS IS GOING, BUT: At Nitro in Baltimore, there was a bin full
of sodas. Normally, there are Cokes, Diet Cokes and bottled water. Kudos and hats-off to
the Baltimore Arena for offering Canada Dry Ginger Ale, Sunkist Orange Soda and actual
cans of Squirt. I have not seen a can of Squirt in years. I had one and a can of Ginger
Ale ... and was looking for the can of Vernor's. My partner in crime in this is Scotty
Steiner; he and I will drink Vernor's all day long, wherever we can get it. But there was
no Vernor's.
Peace, out, Kevin.
